Senate Passes Hate Crime Bill
The US Senate passed a hate crimes bill today intended to protect gays and lesbians, but they had to do it by attaching it to an Iraq funding bill in order to survive President Bush's veto threat. All the Dems, nine Republicans, and two independents voted for the measure.
